We are excited to share some amazing news with you all. Our beloved Dad, Husband, son, and friend, Wes, has been selected by Great Britain Outrigger to represent Great Britain in the prestigious 2024 Outrigger World Sprint Championship in Hawaii, which will take place in August 2024. This is an incredible honour and a true testament to his dedication and hard work.

Wes, along with a distinguished team of exceptional athletes, has been handpicked by Great Britain Outrigger to proudly represent GB in the thrilling V6 500m and 1500m sprint events.

It is an incredible honour to be selected to Team GB Va’a, the elite high-performance arm of Great Britain Outrigger.

As the sport’s UK governing body, GB Outrigger founded GB Va’a to stand as a symbol of dedication towards the advancement and celebration of elite-level competition and the advancement of Outrigger in competitive arenas, while never losing sight of the importance of making an unwavering commitment to preserving the cultural legacy that defines Outrigger.

GB Va’a is steeped in a rich cultural heritage. Across the Pacific, it is recognised that va’a is not just a sport but a way of life. By committing to this ethos, Team GB Va’a athletes have maintained a long history of medalling at consecutive World Championships.

The Challenge:

While this is a fantastic achievement, we need your support to help Wes make his dream of competing in this championship a reality. The journey to Hawaii is an opportunity of a lifetime. The trip is only partially funded, and the expenses for travel and accommodation are self-funded. That's where your support comes in!

Wes's Dedication:

Wes is not just an outstanding athlete; he's also a well-loved Teacher and director of Rugby at Cardinal Newman. His lifetime passion for sports and dedication to his community make him an exceptional role model and a deserving representative of the world stage. Despite only being recruited into the sport 18 months ago, he has worked tirelessly to improve his skills and compete at the highest level.

Wes has always been highly committed to the communities around him, contributing to and changing lives using his commitment, high values, compassion, and leadership. His reach extends beyond the water—he is chairman of Sussex Schools Rugby, a foster parent, and a mentor to many young students, rugby players, the community, and friends.
