Hive...we need your help!
Wes was diagnosed with a brain tumor almost 8 years ago. At that time it was a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma and the prognosis was a difficult one to hear. After surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, Wes started on a therapy called Optune. All of these things, along with a deep love of family and an incredible will to live, have kept Wes actively in the game of life! He's laughed a lot, loved a ton, played lots of rounds of golf, ridden his bike, done some triathlons, traveled, driven Kelly crazy as per usual, and most important of all, developed a deep bond with his daughter, Lillian. Unfortunately, about 10 weeks ago, we got the news we had hoped to never hear...the tumor had become active again. This new development meant Wes and Kelly needed a new plan. After seeking counsel from many of the best medical minds in Atlanta, it was determined that Wes would have another brain biopsy. That biopsy was performed July 22 at Emory University Hospital. Sadly, Wes' surgery did not go as had hoped and there were some complications along the way. We are still meeting with doctors to devise a plan that is best for Wes moving forward but we know the road ahead will be difficult. Which is why it's time to ask the amazing community Wes has surrounding him for help. There are lots of costs associated with these types of medical issues but what we want most of all is for Wes' immediate family, Kelly and Lillian, to have the freedom to make decisions that best suit Wes. We are deeply grateful for all the love and support Wes has received over the years and continues to receive today. We will keep you updated as we can.
