Wes McAdams recovery

Donation protected
My name is Kelsey (McAdams) Talbot. Many people know and love my dad, Wes McAdams, who has always been a loving father, a reliable friend and a man who puts his trust in the Lord.

On Monday, March 20th, one of his employees broke down on the side of the road, so Wes went to tow him back to Cajun Cypress. He backed his truck up to the front of the car, and while he was in between the vehicles, attempting to attach the straps, someone rear ended the car and Wes was slammed in between the cars. His wrists and arms took most of the hit, as he tried to brace himself. He sustained several serious injuries, including:

- broken clavicle
-8 broken ribs
-punctured lung
-broken sternum
-a fracture in his face
-a few lacerations in various places
-right arm: broken humerus, broken ulna, broken radius, broken wrist.
-left arm (the worst injury): broken ulna, broken radius, shattered wrist (a laceration that goes 3/4 around his arm)
-all the breaks on his arm came through the skin

So far, Wes has had 2 major surgeries:

On the day of the accident, Wes was rushed to emergency surgery to see what they could do for his left hand. There was concern of him losing his hand because they could not get a pulse. Thankfully, the amazing vascular team was able to repair the injury to his artery and restore blood flow. However, the trauma was so severe, they were not able to repair any bones. They left the wound open for the tissues to heal. They also repaired all the bones in his right arm with lots of plates and screws.

The day after the accident, Wes had his second surgery on his left arm. They were able to repair the ulna and radius, but there is extensive damage to his wrist. They put plates in but were still not able to close the wound.

His ribs and chest are actually his biggest complaint, but the medical team has decided not to do any surgeries at this time. His lungs and ribs will have to heal on their own.

Wes’s plan of care moving forward is still waiting to be determined at this time. We are currently praying against infections as this could significantly delay his healing and cause additional problems. We are also praying for the blood flow to stay strong in his hands and that he will regain full mobility of both wrists and arms. He is the handy man of all handy men. He NEEDS his hands.

Wes is the owner of Cajun Cypress and Hardwoods, Inc. and while he has many great employees, Wes is very hands-on with his business, creating beautiful woodwork for his clients. It is unknown at this time how long Wes will be unable to work and how extensive his recover will be. We do know there will be many medical bills and other expenses that will continue to pile up while Wes is unable to work.

Wes would never ask for financial help from anyone, which is why I feel led to do this for him. All donations will go to help pay Wes McAdams’s medical bills and expenses.

My family and I sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts for wanting to bless my dad and help in his recovery.
