My Journey of Endurance and Hope
465 - I am alive
I have endured countless evacuations, indescribable fear, loss, horror and danger. I have narrowly survived being killed not once, but twice, and I have said goodbye to many who were not so fortunate.
It would be easy, even expected to lose hope in such a hostile, seemingly never-ending, hell-like situation, and yet here I am.
I am hopeful, I have hope, peace will come.
I'm Sohyb N. M. Abuelaish, a 28-year-old from Jabalia camp in North Gaza. Until October, I had a stable job and supported my family. Then everything stopped, including my work and our "normal" lives. We've spent all our savings on necessities, facing extremely high prices.
# My Family's Situation
On October 7th, my family and I relocated to Jabalia camp in Gaza. We then sought refuge at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in northern Gaza, staying for two days before surviving the massacre there.
Afterwards, we stayed with family and friends in the al-Sabra area of central Gaza for a month. As the ground invasion neared, I moved to eastern Gaza for two weeks. I reached the South but was separated from my mom and brother, who remained in the North.
The countless evacuations have left my family scattered and exhausted our resources.
### Last Update: Separated Family / Countless Evacuations
As the Rafah ground invasion began, I, Sohyb, evacuated with my friend's family to Alburaij.
Mother Samira and Brother Musab: Currently living in East Jabalia camp, a highly dangerous area, with no safer options available as the central camp and West Gaza are already demolished.
Brother Moath and Family: Set up a tent in Al-Zawaideh, living with his wife and two daughters, one of whom urgently needs medical care.

Malak, my beautiful niece, is only 1 year and 8 months old. She was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) and Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) last year. These conditions cause cysts to form in her kidneys, risking kidney function loss. Her surgery was scheduled for October 15th, but it wasn't possible, putting her kidney function at severe risk.
Brother Belal and family: Evacuated to a makeshift tent in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis.

My two beautiful nieces are currently living in a makeshift tent in Al-Mawasi. The conditions there are extremely harsh
I extend my heart to you, burdened with emotion and weary from fear, to ask for your support, big or small.
How You Can Help
- Donate: Your financial support will cover evacuation costs, educational opportunities for my nieces, and our family's relocation and medical needs.
- Share: Spread the word about our campaign to increase our reach and support.
- Network: If you have connections or resources for medical evacuations, scholarships, educational opportunities, or immigration support, your guidance is invaluable.
Our Goals
My immediate goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of my family. For my mom Samira and brother Musab, I plan to move to Egypt and start anew there. I aim to secure a healthy environment and educational opportunities for my nieces. For Malak, we urgently need to navigate options for medical evacuation or conduct her surgery locally as time is running out.
Contingency Plan
If we are unable to evacuate everyone immediately, we will use the remaining funds to support our family's daily survival needs in Gaza. This includes securing essential supplies and medical care to sustain them until we can bring them to safety.
Your support is leading us out of this nightmare towards a new beginning. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion, empathy, and generosity. It reminds us all that there is kindness and love in this world.
Shukran,
Sohyb

My name is Phoebe Green, and I had the pleasure of teaching English to Sohyb last year during his Digital Marketing program with TAP. Sadly, Sohyb, as with all our other students in Gaza, was forced to leave his studies in October 2023.
Sohyb asked me to facilitate this fundraising campaign, as he needs someone in a recognized country and believes that my energy will help drive a successful campaign to save him and his family, and help them start afresh.
Inshallah, I do not let him down.
