Fund New Neighborhood Art Space in Detroit

This is Michael Andrews and Andrew Jordan and we are two artists working in the Warren Junction neighborhood in Detroit. We have known each other for almost 20 years and we are finally building this project together in the city we love.
For the past year we have been renovating a 50-year old building with the dream of transforming it into a shared studio and art production space.
In addition to working on the building we have been active with the Warren Junction Community Council. We have been helping out with neighborhood clean-ups, community gardening, and other initiatives.
Tragically, a few weeks ago we were robbed. We were so close to finishing up the project and then we got wiped out. Everything we worked so hard towards achieving was derailed. Not only were expensive tools taken but also our HVAC unit, toilet, sinks, water heater, and the list goes on. Needless to say it was a huge set back both financially and emotionally.
Ethelyn Carroll, a community council member who has lived in the neighborhood her whole life was one of the first people to console us and also give us a little bit of money to help recoup the cost. Her generosity solidified our commitment to our neighbors as well as the overall project.
We want to continue to build our vision while helping our neighbors at the same time. Help us get there!
- We need to raise at least $10,000 to both replace the stolen items from the studio and to finish the work needed to make the studio operational.
- We are also committing to giving 20% of the total money raised to Ethelyn and the Warren Junction Community Council.
What you will get for your donation:
- Every donor will receive a unique risograph print created and signed by Michael and Andrew. The print contains elements of both our sensibilities and takes some cues from the existing mural on the building. We affectionately call the building "Kitty Bomb".
- a $500 donation will get you a print and a unique set of sculptural necklaces made by Michael and Andrew.
- $1500 will get you prints, necklaces, and an additional unique wearable item designed by Michael and Andrew.
- A $2,500 you will get a custom designed costume created by Michael and Andrew. See what we are capable of by visiting Andrew's site ( scope of project and completion date will be determined by both the artists and donor)
We would like reach this goal by the end of November so we can heat the building and get back to work.
We believe in this project and want to finish so we can get back to doing what we do best which is to make wild and beautiful things.
