Wendy's New Home
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Wendy, and I'm fundraising for a new home. I'm single and have lived in my apartment for 19 years, and I have a cat named Cherry. I would love to have a home where I can call it mine. On July 29, 2022, an explosion occurred in the basement suite directly below my apartment. The fire has damaged the contents of my suite. I now have to rebuild my entire life and start over again.
Approximately three years ago, an older lady moved into the suite below me; she eventually became a problem for the property owners, landlord, other tenants and myself. She particularly did not like me because I lived above her. She complained about many things I did, but they were just everyday things, like running the dishwasher, talking on the phone, when guests were over, my cat running etc. Whenever I was too loud, she would bang on the walls or ceiling. I would then complain to the landlord. When the landlord tried to deal with the complaints, she would not answer the door, yell profanity, or simply ignore everyone. Police have come to the building a couple of times with complaints from other tenants. The property managers were aware of all the issues we were having with this tenant but never took it too seriously and hoped things would get better with a warning. She continued to be a problem, so on May 3rd, 2022, she was given an eviction notice but refused to leave. She would not answer the door when she was told to leave. On May 30th, 2022, the landlord's car was set on fire. It was parked in his stall at the back of the building. If I had parked my car in the adjacent stall, my car would have been damaged too, but I had parked in the front of the building the night before. So now I had to worry about my vehicle potentially being vandalized. There is no evidence or proof to say she caused or planned the fire; it is still under investigation.
This then escalated to having to contact RTDRS (Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service). A hearing date was set for Friday, July 29, 2022. The evicted tenant lost the case, likely making her very angry. She waited till later in the evening to set her apartment on FIRE!! She fled the building and is currently on the run. I was not home during the explosion, but my cat was. Fortunately, the firefighters rescued her. This lady had no concern for others, aimed at getting revenge, and had intentions of harming me and others in the building.
This whole situation has my life turned upside down; I feel sad, angry and disgusted at how another human being could be this evil.
This money will help with my current debt and help towards a down payment for my first home. It is going to take a lot to start all over again. I'm sad to know that there are items I will never be able to replace. But I hope this will be a fresh start, and I can enjoy life in the comfort of my OWN HOME and never have to live in an apartment again.
Thank you for hearing my crazy story, and any donation you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Wendy.
