Expenses for Wendy's Stem Cell Transplant!!

Donation protected
This GoFundMe is for my sister in-law Wendy Cox who was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2021. At the time the cancer was in a smoldering state. After a pet scan in September of 2023 the Myeloma showed active with lesions on the hip bones. Bone Marrow Biopsy’s and Fish panels were done that show Wendy in the high risk category. Due to new information chemo treatments were started. Wendy currently has chemo daily with infusions twice a week. This regimen is being given to get Wendy ready for a Stem cell transplant. This transplant will give hopes of a more time of life. This stem cell will take place in Duke at Durham. This is several hours away from where Wendy lives. The stem cell requires that Wendy stay with a care giver in Duke for 30 days. She will be going to the hospital daily to check her levels. Someone will be caring for her as she will be too weak. Sadly, this is the best option for additional time here for Wendy. However, with this being in Duke, Wendy will be responsible for lodging, food and gas for little over a month. This procedure at Duke will require Wendy to need around the clock care and she will have no immunity, which will leave her very sick. There is NO cure for this cancer. This will be her new normal.

With all that will be going on with Wendy physically, she shouldn’t have to focus on the financial portion as well. Wendy does so much for everyone, she is the strongest most supportive person I know and I am lucky to call her family. Support from her friends and family is key in her mental health and gives her the strength to keep fighting and just knowing she has all of us rallying behind her. One of her biggest supporters is her husband Brian who works in law enforcement protecting others every day and during all that is going on he should not have to worry about the financial burden and have to choose between a paid day or being by his wife's side. He also has to continue to care for his younger son at home while trying to balance everything. This is a lot for them they've both been through a lot and if we all can help in any way it would be a blessing to her and her entire family, that way she can focus on what is the most important piece and that is gaining some sort of normalcy in her day to day life.

Thank you all!!!

If you are able to donate in any way we would greatly appreciate it and as always please continue to pray for Wendy!!

During her time at Duke I will post updates to everyone as they are given to me. I appreciate each and every one of you!!!
