Wendy’s Fight Against Cholangiocarcinoma
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family,
It is with a heavy heart we share our mother’s, Wendy, recent diagnosis of a rare, aggressive form of cancer to the bile duct that has spread to the liver and lymph nodes.
Last week, Wendy began looking a little jaundiced and was admitted to the hospital for a bile duct blockage. At that time they did imaging and found a tumor in the bile duct. After a biopsy it has been confirmed that Wendy has Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile duct cancer) of the bile duct that has metastasized. This form of cancer is rare and aggressive, and has spread too far to be able to remove surgically. Unfortunately, treatment options are limited, but she will begin chemo in hopes of shrinking the tumor to prevent further blockages.
As you can imagine this is a sudden, shocking diagnosis since Wendy had no signs or symptoms prior to last week. But if you know Wendy, you know how positive, strong, and hopeful she is. Her spirits are higher than anyone could imagine, given the diagnosis and she is ready to fight.
Wendy will no longer be able to work while she battles cancer and undergoes chemo. If you are in a position to donate and help with medical bills, that would be incredibly helpful.
If you can’t donate, please check in to make her feel loved. We are requesting that we keep things positive and supportive as she needs to be surrounded by positivity during this difficult time.
