Wendy’s Fight Against Lung Cancer

Our beloved Wendy- devoted wife to Charles Smith, and a deeply cherished daughter, sister, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother- has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma in her left lung. The cancer has already spread to her lymph nodes, and she will be starting aggressive chemotherapy and radiation very soon. The hope is that these treatments will shrink the tumor so doctors can remove the affected part of her lung. If the tumor doesn’t respond, she may need to have her entire lung and lymph nodes removed, which would bring even more challenges. She is also undergoing further tests to make sure it hasn’t spread to her brain.

This has been overwhelming news for our family, but Wendy is ready to fight with everything she has. We want her to focus on healing, not the financial stress that comes with treatments, travel, and time away from work.
