Wendy Calderon went to the hospital for an oral surgery one month ago and shortly thereafter acquired an infection. While this infection would have been an ailment most of us could fight off routinely, Wendy's reaction to it was worse than expected. After weeks of testing and fighting the infection, Wendy was diagnosed with AML leukemia - a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects white blood cell production and the body's ability to fight disease.
A little more about Wendy. She's a 40 year old Costa Rican married to Josh York, a 43 year old American. Wendy and Josh have loved each other well for over 3 years and were married 2 years ago. They took what little money they had and invested it in their dream of moving out of San Jose, CR to a more wholesome, holistic lifestyle in the mountains of Costa Rica.
Wendy has two sons, Anderson (22) and Axel (15).
Wendy and Josh's life dream included becoming stewards of the earth. They began growing organic coffees and fruits. They completed their 100% off grid infrastructure using solar and hydro power and then began building their home themselves cutting down sustainable trees.
Half way through construction Wendy became very ill from the infection. Wendy and Josh, along with their loving families and friends are devastated by Wendy's AML leukemia diagnosis. Treatments for this cancer are very expensive and we are running out of money and time. We need your help .....

Wendy Calderon fue al hospital para obtener una cirugía oral hace un mes y poco tiempo después adquirió una infección. Aunque la infección hubiera sido una enfermedad que cualquiera podría superar con poca dificultad, la reacción de Wendy fue peor de lo pensado. Después de semanas de exámenes médicos y la lucha en contra de la infección, Wendy fue diagnosticada con AML leucemia - una forma de cáncer rara y agresiva que afecta las células blancas de la sangre y la habilidad del cuerpo de luchar en contra de la enfermedad.
Wendy, costarricense de 40 años de edad, se casó con Josh York, americano de 43 años de edad. Wendy y Josh, amantes por más de 3 años y casados por 2 años, tomaron el poco dinero que tenían y lo invirtieron en el sueño de mudarse fuera de San José, Costa Rica, para vivir con pocas preocupaciones en un nuevo hogar en las montañas en las afueras de la ciudad.
Wendy tiene dos hijos, Anderson (22) y Axel (15).
El sueño de Wendy y Josh siempre fue ser administradores del medio ambiente, y empezaron a crecer cafés y frutas orgánicas. Cumplieron su meta de vivir totalmente fuera de la red eléctrica usando energía solar e hidroeléctrica, y comenzaron a construir su propia casa ellos mismos con medidas sostenibles.
A mitad de construir el hogar de sus sueños, Wendy se enfermó de la infección. Wendy y Josh, y sus familias y amigos, lamentan mucho el diagnóstico de AML leucemia de Wendy. Los tratamientos para este tipo de cáncer son muy caros y tienen poco dinero y tiempo. Necesitan su ayuda...
