Wendy Kasperski

Wendy Kasperski is a loving single mom and a beloved coastal community member. Last week she was involved in a car crash. Her car was totalled and she had to be airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in vancouver as our small coastal hospital does not have the facilities to treat her. She was in emergency for a few days and is now in the intensive care unit. She has passed the threshold of death and will survive this but she has 5 broken ribs and multiple spinal fractures. She is hooked onto life support still and her kidneys failed but are slowly working more. She has gone through poly trauma and has a traumatic brain injury. The doctors do not know how long it will be until she is conscious enough to speak. They are saying it could be months before any progress is made. She is responding to commands like squeezing hands and has been looking at me, her daughter, a little bit. But she still has a long way to go and will be in the hospital seemingly for a very long time. She is on welfare and lives very stressed about money, I have stepped up paying rent and helping with bills and groceries in any way I can as she worked from home as a hairdresser and covid and a hip injury stopped her from working. Now that she is mostly unconscious it is up to me to pay the full bills and rent as well as caring for our 3 cats. I will have to be working full time and visiting her on my days off. Her recovery will be a long one and any little bit that anyone is gracious enough to give will help immensely. Even if you are not in a place to donate, any prayers and loving positive energy sent her way will help.
