Wendy is a 52 year old loving mother of 2 wonderful daughters, 2 occasionally okay dogs and 3 indifferent cats. The daughters: Ashley is 23 and Emily is 17, the dogs: JoJo is 4 and Rosie is 3, the cats: Homer is 17, Chelsea is 10 and Annabelle is 9. Wendy has been a nurse almost all of her life and most of that time caring for Alzheimer's patients so she is no stranger to giving to others.
Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in late January and after many tests, images, doctor appointments and stressful times the first surgery is in a couple days set for April 26, 2018. She will have a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery first and at least one other surgery to finish reconstruction in about 6 weeks or so. It still needs to be determined by testing after surgery if Wendy will need radiation and/or chemotherapy. If everything goes well the recovery time is expected to be about 12 weeks.
Luckily Wendy's job will give her the leave with no fear of her losing her position, but she will not receive any money while out on leave. Twelve weeks without pay is going to be very difficult on her and the family. All funds raised will go to medical bills, keeping her medical insurance, medications, monthly bills and household bills and expenses. I am not sure what all this will add up to, estimating about 15 thousand, but Wendy already has a couple thousand dollars in medical bills.
I am extremely thankful for anyone just reading this and Wendy will be very appreciative of all the help she receives. Any funds left over after all of the bills are paid (and maybe a vacation for her after she gets through all of this) will be donated to cancer prevention and treatment charities.
Thank you!
