Wendy and Rain lost everything
Donation protected
My mom Wendy and 16 year old brother Rain just lost everything in the Woolsey fire in Malibu, Ca.
Their house, car, trailer, and all belongings are gone along with their 2 precious cats who were frightened and unable to be saved.
The same morning the fire began my mom was riding her horse with a friend when a dog ran up behind them, spooking the horse and causing it to buck my mother off and trample her body. She was rushed to the hospital and admitted to ICU where they discovered internal bleeding. She has now been released from intensive care and moved into a normal room where she continues to be monitored and is currently in physical therapy to walk again. The bleeding luckily is stable and she should not need surgery at this time. They are still unsure if it is coming from her liver or intestines but they feel confident that she will continue getting better at this point.
Today we received the news we were dreading that her home did in fact burn down and there is nothing left. Because of the timing that took place with her accident she was unable to retrieve any personal belongings from her house. Her friend was able to save her 2 horses and dog and nothing else. My brother was taken to the hospital wearing his pajamas and the clothing my mom had on was cut off and is now useless. She will have to leave the hospital in either nurses scrubs or any donation clothes she can get her hands on. They have nothing else now.
When she is released then plan is to stay with family in the Los Angeles/San Diego area where she will need to continue to rest and heal her body back to health before she can even look for work again. That means in the meantime anything and everything helps. If you are in the area and would prefer to donate food, clothing, shoes, home goods, pillows or blankets, toiletries, anything like that it would be so appreciated.
Either way we thank you for taking the time to read her story and except all the love and well wishes sent our way.
Our hearts are with everyone else dealing with these fires as well and of course to all the brave firefighters out there. Thank you!
For those wondering- Myself, (Skye) am currently living with my husband and our daughter in Argentina and it is truly heartbreaking to know my family is suffering so much and we are on the other side of the world. Unfortunately we do not have the finances ourselves to fly back and be there with them in person at this time.
