Wendilyn Needs Encouragement and Financial Help

Hi, My name is Kate Schlechter and I am raising money to help my friend and her husband, Jonathan, with their medical bills and living expenses as Wendilyn receives medical treatment for various forms of cancer. I have known Wendilyn for over eight years as a strong, compassionate courageous woman, wife and rescuer of feral cats who has a deep love and academic mind for mythology. Here is Wendilyn's story in her own words, " I am an impoverished 62 year old woman who had cancer surgery and breast removal in November 2022 and they have now found that the cancer has metastasized into the brain, pituitary and bones. Being treated at City of Hope Duarte comprehensive Cancer Care Center. It's very far from where I live...a two-hour drive. My husband (who lives with two traumatic brain injuries and an early onset Alzheimer's diagnosis as of June 2022) and I do not have a car. I cannot drive if I could. I have to take Lyft or Uber to get to medical care. Each trip costs about $200 roundtrip. Our situation is dire. I have to be at City of Hope for radiation treatment, and they provide a place for me to stay and breakfast. No other funds are available for food during the day, or travel, clothing etc. We have to keep two households going (my room at City of Hope, and our family home). I am waiting to hear back how long the radiation treatment will take. It could take a little over a week, or 5 weeks. I will have to be separated from my husband during this time of treatment. We can't afford to have him come visit me at the hospital. I may have to get home somehow at least once a week to care, and to check on my husband, and to pick up my medication which comes to our home and not to the hospital. Prayers seem to be working. The MRI shows the lesion on the pituitary has shrunk 80%. The other lesions have not grown. I want to thank everyone who has prayed for meant who has sent me positive energy. Please keep up the good work, we want to get rid of this stuff. Still alot of work to be done. My love and thanks to everyone who has supported me!
