Wendell "Rick" Harper Memorial Fund
Update: Our son, brother, father, cousin,
nephew, friend Rick has won the battle! After fighting for nearly 3 months to come back to
us God saw fit to bring Wendell Richard “Rick” Harper home. And while we are devastated
and heartbroken we know that God knows
best and that Rick is now reunited with his
sister Nikki and it is a joyous reunion!
No one can ever anticipate an event like this.
Rick was a young and vibrant man with a full
life ahead of him. And now he leaves 3
children to mourn his loss and navigate life
without their dad.
His family is asking in lieu of flowers, etc
donations be made to Victoria and their
children.
Please share this with any and all who may be moved to assist. The family continues to be
grateful for all the support we have received
especially the endless prayers. It is those
prayers that continue to hold us up.
Thank you all in advance.
I am Terri Harper. My son, Rick Harper, collapsed at home Friday April 30th. I heard the garage door & he stumbled into my room in distress & collapsed. The 911 operator talked me through administering chest compressions until the paramedics got here & got him to the hospital.
He had a hemorrhagic stroke with bleeding pooled on the brain stem & the doctors gave him little chance of survival. They expected his brain would herniate & depress his brain stem leading to brain death!
I immediately called family & friends who went into action doing the only thing we knew to do... pray! My prayer warriors got their prayer warriors, who got their prayer warriors to pray! My family held prayer vigils praying all night every hour on the hour! Monday May 3rd Rick showed brain activity!!! He moved his feet & arms when pain & pressure was applied. The doctors now said they didn't have to perform the test for brain death because his brain is ALIVE!
There is a long road ahead.... but I’m trusting & believing that God has heard our cries & spared my son’s life. I believe his sister, my daughter Nikki, and the ancestors petitioned God so that it is not his time.
Since this incident many have asked how they can help.
We are setting up this GoFundMe to assist with current and future medical expenses as well as to supplement the loss of income his family has suffered due to his illness. These fund will help support his recovery over the next several months.
Thank you in advance for your prayers, love and support.
Terri, Victoria, Naze, RJ, Darius and the family.
