WEMF Youth Group Summer Trip
Donation protected
Our group is so excited for our upcoming service-learning trip to Yakama County Washington, Aug 5-10. This trip is through S.L.A.M. (Students Learning About Missions), a Native-American owned and operated ministry on the Yakama Reservation. S.L.A.M. TRIPS provides youth groups with a Christ-centered and cross-cultural mission trip on the Yakama Reservation where students are taught to think and function within an Indigenous missiological paradigm instead of the historical Western paradigm.
Along with service projects such as chopping woods for elders, cleaning brush and garbage from yards, painting over graffiti and painting houses, our youth will participate in cultural orientation given by local Native Americans, Pow-Wow’s, participation in Native American worship service, a traditional salmon and Indian fry bread dinner, and interaction with local Native youth.
Our prayer is that each youth would experience "missions" in a new way- a way that honors the dignity of all involved and points to Christ throughout.
Funds raised will go towards the cost of flights, van rental, and the week's expenses for our 8 youth and 4 leaders. Please consider donating by Wed July 25th. Thank you!
