How far would YOU go if one of your close friends was facing the fight of their life? You'd do absolutely anything, right?

That's where I'm coming from when I ask for your support for my beautiful friend Ashley.

Ashley has been living with Stage 4 breast cancer since August 2025. For months, she hoped she could focus on treatment and healing privately, only sharing her story once she had hopeful news to accompany the hard truth.

This is her second time facing breast cancer. She thought (we all did) that she was in the clear. A routine appointment last August unfortunately revealed the cancer had returned, and stronger.

While the road ahead is still uncertain, here is the good news:

Ashley is now ready to share her story openly and receive support from the people who love her.

That is truly a win.

This woman is not one to ask for favours.

It took a great deal of reflection and humility for her to come around to the idea of me launching this campaign on her behalf.

But that's the thing about cancer.

It forces you to face your fears.

And it clarifies what truly matters.

Ashley has always been deeply devoted to her family. She has an amazing, loving husband and two incredible kids who have a zest for life that is absolutely un-matched. Creating a family was her lifelong dream, and she has poured her heart into it fully.

Now, Ashley is allowing herself to receive the same care and devotion in return.

It's nerve-wracking to put news like this "out there" for someone who is used to making sure everyone else is okay.

But facing her fears is a big part of her healing process. Being “seen” more fully is one fear I think many of us can relate to and understand. It’s scary to reveal the messy backstage to your friends, family and community.

But it’s necessary now.

Ashley’s Approach to Healing

Healing is a daily, hourly and even moment by moment endeavour.

To support herself on this path toward health and vitality, Ashley has assembled a dedicated team of professionals including her medical oncology team, alongside integrative practitioners who are helping her physical, emotional and mental wellbeing during this time.

She is pursuing traditional medical treatment while also focusing on rest, emotional resilience, nervous system regulation and more - doing everything possible to support her body, her mind and her soul through this intense season.

All of these combined efforts are already helping immensely! We just have to ensure she can keep taking them on, and even more fully than she already is.

Should you choose to support Ashley on this journey, just know that not a cent is taken for granted by her. And every single gesture of love and support is being stewarded by her deep level of commitment to her whole-self healing process. She is facing this big monster head on, and witnessing her bravery has been nothing short of inspiring to me.

She is a warrior AND grace embodied.

And at the end of the day, the truth is that this path (as some of you know, if you've been there or supported others who have) requires immense dedication of time, energy and presence. Not just from Ashley, but from her entire family and the village supporting them.

With both her and her husband Brian's complete time and attention devoted to the path - Ashley has a fighting chance.

As her friend... I am doing anything and everything in my power to make this possible for Ashley and for them as a family.

Why Financial Support Is Needed

To give Ashley the strongest possible foundation for healing, this fundraiser is intended to support the Humphrey family in the following ways:

1. Family Care & Stability (~$60,000)

This will allow Brian to step back from work so he can care for Ashley full time, attend treatments, manage logistics, and support their children without the added pressure of financial strain during this critical year.

2. Integrative Healing Retreat (~$60,000)

Ashley is exploring the possibility of attending a specialized integrative cancer retreat focused on rest, recovery, and whole-body healing. These programs often include medical oversight, therapeutic support, accommodations and travel. Retreats like this are a significant investment. While plans are still being finalized, this opportunity would allow Ashley to dedicate focused time to recovery in an environment exclusively designed for healing.

3. Ongoing Medical & Supportive Care (~$12,000)

As this is Ashley’s second experience with cancer, many insurance benefits have already been exhausted. These funds will help cover uncovered medications, practitioner visits, therapies, and supportive care that are essential to her treatment plan.

In parallel with this fundraiser, the family is also seeking additional funding sources and assistance programs to help offset costs wherever possible.

Transparency & Stewardship

One of Ashley’s biggest concerns was what would happen if funds were raised beyond what ends up being needed.

What a blessing that would be if we raised MORE than enough!

Should that occur, all donors will be kept informed, and any additional funds will be thoughtfully directed toward supporting others facing similar health challenges.

Every dollar raised will be used with the utmost care, integrity, and transparency.
