Julie Rae Daugherty, a super mom to her 2 boys, a grandma to a beautiful granddaughter Cali Rae, a wife to her best friend Dennis "Dino" and a friend too all has recently began her fight with the most deadliest and aggresive form of brain cancer known as Glioblastoma. It has been a sudden fight and one that we never imagined for her life. We, the family, ask that you hear her story and our cries and help provide Julie some comfort in her final days. Below you will find a hand written letter from her husband, their story and his cry for help! We are raising money for medical costs for Julie in her final days as insurance will no longer cover the medical care she needs to live! Julie's days are numbered and we are desperatly seeking any help with the costs associated to give Julie some lasting comfort in her final day's with us.  Our many thanks to you for any donations, small or large.  It is with great sadness that we share Julie's story below.
Julie Rae Gricol became Julie Rae Daugherty on October 27, 1979. She married the love of her life & best friend, Dennis Dino Daugherty in a small church in Manhattan Beach, CA where they had their 2 sons, Travis and Brandon. They moved to Rancho Santa Margarita in 1987 when the boys were just 3 and 6 and thats when Julie became super mom! She was actively involved in their sons sporting activities but especially surfing.  She was the ultimate beach mom, adopting many of the other beach kids and inviting them along for long weekends
at the beach and summer camping trips. The epitome of super mom and surrogate, Julie lived for her family and especially for her boys!

It was on July 1, 2015, that a brain scan revealed the tumor that was causing her unusal behavior after being given a false nervous breakdown diagnosis.  Within days, Julie underwent emergency surgery for the tumor. No warning signs, no road map, an insurance nightmare and a broken hearted family are now left looking for answers....looking for help! It was determined that day that she was terminal with the most deadliest form of brain cancer known as Glioblastoma and only 75% of the tumor could be removed. Julie was given 3-6 months to live and a very aggressive Chemotherapy plan. This all happened in a matter of days.

Treatment has been ongoing and it is simply ongoing due to her immense stregth and toughness that she is still holding on. After 8 trips to the E.R for emergency transfusions, she could take no more and has been in Kaiser hospital for over a week under "observation". Becasue of her "observation" status she is able to maintain a bed however, insurance will no longer cover her as a checked in patient.

Doctors can do little more for Julie and today her care is soley dependent on Assisted Facilities as home is no longer an option. The level of care Julie needs to have comfort is impossible without the help of a medical staff 24/7.  The costs for such care are astronomical.

"I am at the time of this writing, persuing options to cover costs for this exceptionally, incredible woman. Always cheerful, always putting others ahead of herself but foremost, always strong, loving and fiercely independent, she is my best friend"- Dennis Dino

Any donation, small or large will be used soley to find & provide care for this BEAUTFUIL, LOVING and exceptionally STRONG woman. Even a simple sharing of this story to those within your network that may be able to help would be a greatly appreciated. We thank you all for taking the time to read Julie's story as she means the world to us!  God Bless!
