Dear Friends and Family,
The fight against cancer goes on! There is no one I know who can say they don’t have a friend or relative that has battled this horrible disease. Many of you know that I’ve fought the most difficult battle of my life over the past seven months. I am now more aware of the devastation from the many different cancers out there and how many people around me have fought the disease, or are currently fighting the disease. I have been very open about my battle, and in doing so, I have received an amazingly massive amount of support… I am still in awe about all the love I have received. Because of the overwhelming love, generosity and empathy I have received I have found another way to fight against cancer! I would like to help a fellow cancer fighter that I was introduced to by a close friend. I have seen how supportive and generous people are through my battle, and I’d like to ask that we all share some love and support towards my friend and fellow fighter!
She is an amazing woman! She is compassionate, empathetic, caring, positive and extremely strong! I am so proud to have her now as my friend! Her name is Evelyn Giles… known as “Giles” by all of her friends and co-workers. She is fighting one of the most devastating forms of cancer! She has Advanced Pancreatic Cancer. She was diagnosed in October and has been undergoing chemotherapy since then. She will continue receiving chemotherapy once per week indefinitely. This is an abundant amount of chemotherapy. It robs her of all herr energy, her femininity by taking her hair and any sense of normalcy. It causes many uncomfortable side effects that make it nearly impossible to accomplish just the basic needs of life. I have to say she’s an extremely strong woman and she is going to Kick Cancer’s Ass! She just needs some extra support financially to make her fight easier… allowing her to focus on her fight, getting well, and spending every minute possible with her beautiful family!
A little more about Giles… Not only has she served our community for 10 years, she is a wonderful wife and mother of 3 beautiful children. She has been married to her amazingly supportive husband James for 22 years. She has a beautiful daughter, Jamie, who is 22 years old and is attending college. She has a super smart and handsome son named Devin. He is 19 years old and is attending college studying to become an engineer. Her youngest son, Anthony, is 10 years old, very cute, super sweet and polite.
I would really like this gofundme to do a couple things for her and her family… the main thing is to relieve any stress related to finances with her being on disability and only receiving a small portion of her pay. The other is to provide her and her family with enough money to be able to go on a nice family vacation… something they haven’t been able to do as of yet. I have learned through my fight and my speaking with other fellow fighters how expensive cancer prescriptions and treatments are… it’s ridiculous! Even with great medical coverage there is an average monthly cost of $220/month… that’s the average between Giles, another friend currently fighting cancer and myself. Giles cost is much higher than this average because she has to go in for chemotherapy treatments and doctor visits more frequently.
My goal is to raise at least $15,000 for Giles and her family to be able to enjoy their time together without the stress of finances. Let’s work together and bless Giles and her family with the opportunity to spend their time together comfortably while fighting this horrible disease. Let's raise enough money for them to have fun and create long-lasting memories… not fighting this battle with worry and stress. They deserve this! Giles is a very positive woman that has decided to Kick Cancer’s Ass with every ounce of her being. She has chosen to live each day to its fullest, and focus on life vividly, concentrating on all the things she is grateful for having… a beautiful family, fantastic friends and co-workers, and an appreciation for all the love, support and generosity life has to offer. She is an inspiration to me!
