"Help Aiden Kick Leukemia's Butt"
On 8/13/15 our family was rocked by terrible news. My 8 year old nephew Aiden, who loves zombies and Doctor Who, was diagnosed with Leukemia.
For the next 30 days Aiden, also known as "Slim", "Red Baron" and "The Boy" will be living in a NY Presbyterian Hospital room, followed by two intense years of Chemotherapy. He'll need to stay home from school for at least the first year, as germs are his enemy. That means that his Mom or Dad, my sister Eve or brother in law Tracy, will need to take an unpaid leave of absence to help their baby through this, cutting their two person income family down to one. At the same time that their income is being sliced in half, they will be racking up two years of hospital bills. Insurance does not cover 100%, and an 8 year old's leukemia treatment is not the place to cut corners.
Friends and family have been texting and calling like crazy, asking "How can I help?". The best thing that you can do is send positive thoughts and prayers Aiden's way.
