It wasn't too long ago (January 2018) that I endured many life-changing events that put me in a very difficult grieving cycle. My mother lost a 10 year battle to cancer, I left a very big job as a Vice President of a company, broke up with my boyfriend, and moved out of a place I called home... I started a whole new life without the support system I once had with key people in my life- from the ground up. I sought out many different healing sources to help me as I was struggling with the intense grief I felt. Yoga, meditation, breath work and aromatherapy were my main go to's. I also went through a yoga teacher certification, took a Landmark course and did some soul searching travel to figure out how to cope. I worked hard at overcoming the grief I felt, and still, I am battling depression every day.
During the process of experiencing all of these events, I often wished that I had a safe place to go and to feel normal. My family was states away, and many of my friends and the people that were around me had never been through something as catastrophic as I had went through. I wanted to connect with others who understood the pain I felt, and who could identify with the cataclysmic effects that grieving has on a person from every level. I am a big believer in holistic treatments whenever possible, and I believe that we all have within us the power to heal- we just need the knowledge and tools to access the resources available.
My dream is to open a wellness center to help others that are going through grief, trauma, or depression from major events that changed their lives. The wellness center that I envision will be a home or a condo building retrofitted for community engagement that will be centered around increasing the life-quality and sense of purpose of those that visit. Knowing something like requires a big financial investment to open, operate, and manage, this go fund me page is dedicated to raising the funds to bring the project to life. Ideally, I would love for the center to be open and free to all, but knowing that will take a lot of resources to keep it going continuously, I would like to start out with a model that offers the ability to bring in revenue, but also offers people that don't have financial resources, a free place to feel safe and recover. A portion of the revenue will come from paid guests that are staying overnight at the center for long periods of time, and for those that cannot afford to stay or contribute, can visit the center for free. The center will offer holistic and therapeutic services to help people recover from whatever they are experiencing in life that has caused them to end up in the state they are in today. I would like to build daily programming and workshops into the center that industry leaders can volunteer for to offer services to the guests to give them hope. Below are some of the ideas that I have for the center.
The fundraising goal I am setting is big- and I know it will take a while to get there. If I do not meet my goal initially, I am committed to using the funds raised to positively impact quality of life for others. The funds will be used to build sessions to help others to get through whatever it is they are going through until I have enough capital to open and operate the center. Your contribution no matter how big or small, will play an important part in building the resources needed for people to heal and find peace. All donations are welcome, and I will give updates to everyone who donated each step of the way. Thank you so much for your love, support, and your contribution.
