Help #TheTrybe Expand!

The Trybe Dance Collective distinguishes itself from other dance studios in the greater Washington metropolitan area as it not only offers an array of classes and levels of competition for dancers of various levels, but works closely with advanced and elite level dancers between the ages of nine and seventeen who have displayed the interest and skill-sets necessary to succeed in the professional dance industry. Most dancers struggle to transition from a recreational dancer to professional artist— we seek to bridge that gap. Through The Trybe curriculum and a holistic teaching method, dancers gain the tools necessary to succeed as future Artpreneurs; we offer mentorship, website, resume and dance reel education as well as construction, headshot, full body and location shot guidance. Through our network, students build professional contacts through specialized workshops and panels, all the while continuing to train and hone their craft as artists. Executing this curriculum at a studio level is a new approach, but is necessary for future generations to attain a competitive edge while operating in an ever-changing industry. Although it may be introductory to some, it is a model that has demonstrated success with over 30 years of teaching and professional experience at the helm.

In August of 2020, we opened our doors to dancers and have seen consistent growth through enrollment and product sales. We have also received local and national recognition for our choreography in the John’s Hopkins Peabody Dance! Festival (Baltimore, MD), the Women in Dance Leadership Conference (Chicago, IL), and the Richmond Dance Festival (Richmond, VA). Our dancers have successfully competed at local and regional competitions and are actively training in preparation for national competitions. Because of this exposure and recognition, The Trybe has outgrown our temporary space and is ready to expand.

All funds will go towards the acquisition of a permanent space, purchase of new floors, mirrors and barres, as well as miscellaneous renovations. Help us continue to provide a safe space where emerging young creatives and choreographers can explore and hone their crafts, while nurturing their love for dance.
