Hello All,
We are beyond thrilled to welcome home Tyrone to New York City after 25 years of incarceration!
Over the past year, we have had the chance to get to know Tyrone as the thoughtful, intelligent, and compassionate man that he is.
During his incarceration, Tyrone focused his time on bettering himself and helping those around him. He is particularly proud of his work as a paralegal and in the law library, and he established himself as a source for information and wisdom among his fellow incarcerated peers due to his love for learning. He’s shared stories with us about how he has helped friends understand difficult legal information, the process for filing a stimulus, and even a cancer diagnosis.
As he begins to navigate reentry, we’re hoping to support him just as he has done for his peers. Tyrone is in his mid-60s and very focused on dealing with a number of medical issues that were neglected by the prison system while he was incarcerated. In addition to a botched surgery on his foot in 2022 and arthritis in his hips, Tyrone is legally blind and has glaucoma in both of his eyes.
We’re hoping any funds raised can help Tyrone afford medical care and transportation around the city as he awaits permanent housing. Any amount helps, and we’re so grateful!
In Solidarity,
Beatrice and Nisha
