Despite these setbacks Michael has been doing amazing things as a community-builder while serving his sentence, including planning and hosting therapeutic workshops for inmates to planning a recent Celebration of Life for George Floyd . We know he will continue to inspire others with his story of perseverance and faith. He has plans to bring his project called Standing in the Defense Against Violence to life now that he is free.
is ready to face new challenges outside of prison but he needs our help to get there. We are joyously celebrating his sentence commutation and now ask that you please help us bring a little light into what has surely been a dark time for Michael. 100% of these funds will go into a bank account to fund Michael's anticipated housing, food, and medical costs.
“To all my supporters and those who have followed my story over the last weeks and months, I am thankful. Now I really need your help to re-establish myself back into the community after serving 25 years for as Michigan’s longest serving non-violent offender…"
We thank our friends at Last Prisoner Project for all the work they've done to draw attention to Michael's story and the stories of countless other drug war POWs, as well as Shaun King for setting up the website FreeMichaelThompson and really getting the momentum going to free him.
