My Voice Deserves to Be Heard – Help Me Stand Up

Hi, ich bin Benjamina. Im Februar 2025 wurde mir während eines Auslandsaufenthalts in Barcelona etwas genommen, das man keinem Menschen nehmen darf: mein Körper, meine Würde, mein Sicherheitsgefühl.

Ich wurde Opfer eines sexuellen Übergriffs – in einem Zustand, in dem ich nicht mehr in der Lage war, bewusst zuzustimmen oder mich zu wehren.

Was folgte, war nicht nur körperlicher Schmerz, sondern eine seelische Zerreißprobe, die mich bis heute erschüttert.

Ich habe medizinische Hilfe aufgesucht, eine Therapeutin gefunden, langsam begonnen, das Geschehene anzuerkennen. Und ich habe mich – nach vielen schlaflosen Nächten – entschieden, nicht zu schweigen. Ich habe Strafanzeige gestellt.

Doch der Weg zur Gerechtigkeit ist teuer.

Weil der Tatort in Barcelona war, läuft das Verfahren in Spanien.

Die juristische Aufarbeitung kostet rund 7.000 Euro – Anwaltskosten, Übersetzungen, psychologische Gutachten, Fahrten nach Barcelona. Als 23-jährige Studentin kann ich das allein nicht tragen.

Darum bitte ich dich:

Hilf mir, diesen Weg nicht allein gehen zu müssen.

Hilf mir, für mich selbst und für alle, die ähnliche Gewalt erfahren haben, aufzustehen.

Jeder Betrag – so klein er auch scheinen mag – bringt mich diesem Ziel näher.

In February 2025, during my semester abroad in Barcelona, something happened to me that no one should ever have to experience.

In a vulnerable state, I became the victim of sexual violence.

It left me with physical pain, deep emotional trauma, and a silence that echoed far beyond that night.

The days that followed were filled with confusion, fear, guilt, and shame. But slowly, with the help of doctors, a therapist, and incredibly supportive people, I began to understand:

What happened was not my fault. And I do not want to stay silent.

After weeks of reflection, fear, and legal advice, I decided to file a criminal complaint in Spain.

This decision was not easy. But it was necessary. For me. And for every woman who was made to feel powerless.

However, seeking justice comes at a high financial cost.

Since the case falls under Spanish jurisdiction, I need to go through the legal system there – in a foreign language, with foreign procedures, and without state financial support.

Attorney’s fees, court expenses, psychological reports, translations, and travel costs are expected to reach up to €7,000.

As a 23-year-old student, I simply cannot cover this on my own.

That’s why I am here, asking for your help.

Not because I want pity – but because I believe in solidarity.

Because I believe that what was done to me should have consequences.

And because I believe that we all have the right to stand up, even when we’re afraid.
