We Give It Forward for Darlene

Hello and thank you in advance for considering to give to my cause. My name is Lee Berks. I'm the proud brother of a living angel and a natural born giver by the name of Darlene Berks. Darlene is known not only for what she has done for so many with so little but for the love and passion she has for her family and
friends. Darlene is and always will be relentless when it comes to helping a person in need. She's rarely concerend about her own needs and puts her family and friends first. There's a lot of good people in this world that do great things but few posses the passion and the tireless effort to go above and beyond to make others happy the way Darlene has her entire life!
I always pray that nothing bad ever happens to people like Darlene but unfortunately even the great ones aren't immune to accidents or bad things happening to them.
On Friday night January 29th, 2016 Darlene was meeting with friends (one of which she had not seen in nearly 20 years). The four of them were going to dinner in the beautiful Old Marget area of downtown Omaha, Nebraska. While attemting to walk across the street to the restaurant, Darlene was hit by an oncoming car. The impact sent Darlene's body over the cars hood and into the windshield. Darlene suffered a concussion to the back of her head that shattered the cars windshield. After the driver hit the brakes, Darlene rolled forward over the front hood and landed on the street in front of the car. The impact also had a major affect on Darlene's left leg. The leg that she just had a knee replacement surgery on two months prior. The driver that hit Darlene was driving without her headlights on and with an expired vehicle insurance card. According to the police report there was no alchole or drugs involved. Omaha Fire and Rescue was on site in litterally no time. Darlene was taken to Creighton Medical Center Emergancy where she was treated and placed in the truma unit of the hospital. Darlene was cleared of any spinal damage the day after the accident but is still being treated for her concussion. According to the doctor on staff, Darlene will need to undergo physical therapy for complications with walking and to be monitored for her concussion. Darlene will be transfered from Creighton hospital in Omaha to a skilled nursing facility in Lincoln, Nebraka where she will stay for approximately two weeks or until she is cleared to go home.
The good news is, this beautiful angel known as Darlene Berks is still alive! God was watching over her that night. God spared her life and regifted all of us with a living angel.
The bad news is this angel is emotionally and phyhsically drained. She is also financially drained as she was already trying to bounce back from her knee replacement surgery. She has and will miss a lot of time off work from her secretarial job. We will pursue all avenues of insurance and hire a personal injury attorney. But we all know how slow the insurance and legal process works.
Darlene is in immediate need of financial support for living expenses, medical bills not covered by insurance and personal bills that are pilling up do to her missing so much time from work. I had a really hard time setting a financial goal on this charity simply because we don't know what the future holds or how long it will take Darlene to bounce back from this accident and her concussion. She is currently suffering from dizziness, pain to the entire left side of her body whenever she attemps to walk and she can't keep any food down. The docter tells us that her throwing up is a symptom of the concussion from the accident.
PLEASE HELP ME HELP THIS ANGEL!
I titled this charity "We give it forward for Darlene" This is similar to the idea of paying it forward but paying it forward Does'nt fit Darlene because she "gave" without ever expecting anything in return.
Obviously it means a lot to me to help my sister get back on her feet. In order to do that I know i will need help from the Lord above and from friends, family members and acquaintances on earth. Please give what you can when, you can. If for some reason you can't contribute right now please throw up a prayer for Darlene.
