Weekend Club Christmas Appeal 2022

This year, give a gift you know will be loved! We’re fundraising for Christmas presents for the families who participate in our Weekend Club for refugees and asylum seekers and for the ongoing work of the project. Last year, a participant whose son received a present through our Christmas appeal told us: “My boy loves his toys so much. He said ‘mummy, I think Santa loves me.’” Help us spread the love again this Christmas time!

Interfaith Glasgow is a multi-award-winning charity fostering understanding, respect, and cooperation between Glasgow’s diverse faith and belief communities. Our Weekend Club project involves working with an interfaith team of volunteers to support refugees, asylum seekers, and new migrants, many of whom arrive in Glasgow with little or no English or money, unable to work, and suffering the effects of trauma. We deliver free family-friendly events that help newcomers feel welcome, build social connections, get to know Glasgow and Scotland better, share their own cultures, and practise speaking English.

We need your help to treat our Weekend Club children to a Christmas present to brighten the holidays. Presents will include toys, books, art supplies, and clothes and will cost £15 per child, and we are aiming to give presents to 100 children. Anything you give beyond what we need for Christmas presents will support the ongoing cost of the Weekend Club project.

Rather than buying your friends gifts they’ve no need of this year, why not buy a present for a refugee child through the Weekend Club Christmas Appeal instead? If you donate over £15 - the cost of one present – you can forward your donation confirmation email to wcxmasappeal @ interfaithglasgow . org (no spaces) along with your friend's name and we will email you a gift certificate like the below, personalised for them. Please allow up to 2 working days for us to send your certificate. To be eligible to receive a certificate, make sure to donate by 15th December. (You can still donate thereafter, but we cannot provide gift certificates after this date).
