Kittens & Cars – A Plea for Help
They may all be under a year old, but these three little souls
Allegro, Cadenza, and Wednesday share more than just youth in common.
Each of them has suffered life-altering injuries after being hit by cars, and all three now face extensive veterinary treatment just to have a chance at a normal, pain-free life.
We're once again coming to you, hat in hand, to ask for your help. The vet bills are mounting, and we simply can’t do this without you.
Allegro
Allegro was found curled up outside a home near Tuam, his tiny body in shock and his jaw shattered from the impact.
He was rushed to Briarhill Vets where he was stabilised and monitored. Just this morning, his jaw was wired back into place. He now faces 6–8 weeks of rest and recovery, and we’re hoping he’ll regain full use of his mouth as he heals.
Cadenza
Cadenza arrived with a severe head wound and a broken tail — the latter of which will need to be amputated due to loss of control and risk of further injury.
But as she began to settle in, it became clear something more was wrong. Further examinations revealed that her hip joint is badly damaged, popping in and out spontaneously — causing intense pain with every movement.
The only long-term solution is to fuse the joint surgically, a procedure that could cost upwards of €2,000. Amputation was considered, but with her tail already being removed, the loss of a rear leg would drastically impact her balance and quality of life. Fusion gives her the best chance at a happy, mobile future.
Wednesday
Wednesday was also hit by a car — and tragically, wasn't brought to the vet right away. By the time she showed signs of severe discomfort, a week had passed and her internal injuries had worsened.
She suffered a hernia, and by the time she was seen, her muscles had already started to heal around the damage. Her owners couldn’t afford the surgery and surrendered her into our care.
Wednesday is now four weeks post-operation and doing her best to recover — but due to the extent of the injury, there’s still a risk that the grafts may not hold, and she might need to undergo further surgery.
Thank you for always being part of our rescue family.
