For anyone who knows my sister, Morgan Churla, you know that her company, Wednesday Wedding Co. (formerly Morgan And Vine Events), is her heart and soul. Built from the ground up since 2018 alongside her invaluable team members Taryn Sanderson and Abbee Seath, she has created a haven for couples seeking a perfectly crafted wedding day. Unfortunately, Morgan and her incredible team at Wednesday Wedding Co. have suffered a devastating loss. On September 28, 2025, a massive fire ripped through their building on East Hastings, completely destroying their hard-won creative studio.

I think it’s safe to say we are all aware of the unfortunate rental reality within Vancouver. Finding an affordable space for a small business is next to impossible and sky-high rents often force creative endeavours to the sidelines. For Morgan, Taryn, and Abbee, finding their unit at 1736 E. Hastings St. in March 2023 was a miracle. Morgan told me she felt like she'd "hit the lottery," and even though that space came without heat, with rats, and with countless other challenges, they took it because it was theirs—it was affordable, and it was a chance.

And so, they built. They poured their hearts into that imperfect space, and with blood, sweat, and I’m sure a few tears, they transformed it into the creative hub they had been dreaming of. It became more than storage; the home base for a business built from pure love and grit since 2018.

The fire took it all.

The tangible loss is staggering—an estimated $11,000 in inventory, gone. But the real heartbreak is in the things money can never replace. The awards earned, the welcome signs saved from every wedding they've done, laptops filled with irreplaceable photos, and most importantly the walls that held so much creative potential.

Morgan, Taryn, and Abbee are the architects of seamless, perfect wedding days for others. They are the calm in the storm and the creative force that makes couples' visions come true without a worry. They are the first to help others and the last to accept help from anyone else (I have known Morgan for the entirety of my 33 years of life, and I am relatively confident in saying she might actually be allergic to accepting help).

I am creating this fundraiser not just to replace what was lost and secure a new space, but to send a message: our community values these artists, these small business owners, these dreamers. Let's show them that the same love and support they pour into every client's "perfect day" can be returned to them in their time of greatest need.
