Flowers in Gary's Memory
Donation protected
Our dad unexpectedly passed away before my sister Brianna's wedding this upcoming March. Our family requests that rather than sending flowers for his memorial that you consider a gift towards flowers for Brianna's wedding. This will be a tribute to Gary's memory given by his family and friends to reflect his loving and generous spirit as well as being a visible reminder of his presence on Brianna's special day.
Most of all, we request that you would honor him every day by being kind and compassionate to those around you who are navigating life's obstacles. "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2

Gary S. Skillings, 63, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on October 1, 2021. He was raised in Scarborough, Maine by parents the late John and Monique Skillings. Despite humble beginnings, Gary's work ethic and perseverance fostered a belief that anything was possible. At the age of 23, while working for his father's heating business and without having ever flown in an airplane, he decided to enroll in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He then joined the Air National Guard and served as a pilot in Operation Desert Storm. Gary continued to pursue his passion for aviation and worked as an American Airlines pilot for 33 years.
As much as he loved being a captain of the skies, Gary was most proud of his family and fully embraced the role of husband, father, and grandfather. Gary will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, generosity, and ability to "maximize" life's special moments. He was a man of faith and strong conviction. No matter how grandiose or how menial the task, he had endless energy and always gave 100% whether he was flying jets, selling real estate or creating precious moments with his family. He gave those closest to him more than a lifetime's worth of memories and we grieve for those who did not have the opportunity to know his heart.
Gary is survived by Donna, his loving and devoted wife of 36 years. Gary's children were his pride and joy. His daughter Sarah and husband Jon and their children Grant and Emma will miss their G-Daddy. His son Brede and fiancé Whitney will remember Gary's encouragement and support in their lives. Gary's youngest child Brianna and fiancé Josh will always be thankful for his wit and wisdom as they plan for their future. He is also survived by his nephew Justin LaBelle and all of his extended family in New England. Everyone who knew Gary will miss his kindheartedness, humor and generosity.
