With WE:BIKE, I want to give children and young people in Ghana the chance to experience the freedom of riding a bicycle and to become part of a positive, active lifestyle. Through bike rides to nearby villages and even multi-day journeys, children are encouraged to leave their daily routines behind, discover nature, and explore new places they may never have seen before.
For many of them, a bicycle is more than just a bike – it means independence, joy, mobility, and new opportunities.
Our Concept:
Children can take part in free workshops on various topics and earn points through learning and participation. With these points, they can borrow bicycles that support them and their families in everyday life – whether for school, errands, or simply the joy of riding.
Beyond that, we organize free excursions, bike races, and community events that bring children together, build confidence, and create unforgettable memories.
At the beginning, the workshops will focus on basic bicycle knowledge and bike repair, empowering children with practical skills they can use for life. Over time, more workshops on a wide range of topics will be added.
Starting in 2026:
In the first quarter of 2026, bicycles and spare parts will be shipped to Ghana so the project can begin. On our land, construction of a youth club has already started. This space will become a safe place for learning, community, and growth, including a small workshop where bicycles can be repaired and maintained together with the kids.
In addition, a bicycle rental service will be created, and guided bike tours for tourists and bicycle travelers will help support the project long-term.
How you can help:
To make WE:BIKE a reality, we rely on your support:
• Sponsorship for the shipping container – through donations or a company willing to provide one
• 3–4 mountain bikes or BMX bikes for children and teenagers
• Sports clothing, shoes, and cycling gear (only items in good condition)
• 2–3 mountain, gravel, or touring bikes for the supervisors leading the trips
• Bicycle parts – especially rechargeable, battery-powered lights
• Financial donations to help complete the youth club and workshop
I am based in Düsseldorf, Germany. Depending on the amount, I can collect donations within a 50 km radius. Otherwise, items can be shipped to me.
