Stagehand Emergency Fund

The photo is of a "Ghost Light".   This is the light we put out every night when the theater goes dark for the day.  Today the "Ghost light" is a symbol that my Industry is going dark for an unknown length of time.

The Covid 19 situation has hit my Industry hard.  We are Entertainment workers... stagehands.

In Madison, WI last night our last venue closed due to the outbreak.  While we understand the needs for these measures, it leaves stagehands without any work for the foreseeable future.  We rely on theatrical events, concerts, expos, and conferences for our income.

As the Call Steward (someone who assigns work), I had the unhappy job of letting people know that the shows were closing and they are out of work... and I have nothing to offer them.

Stagehands in my area do not get vacation pay, sick days or personal days, if we are not on a job site.. we don't get paid.

While, I am lucky enough to have an emergency fund, many of those who work with me do not have those funds.   I am hoping to raise some money to distribute to our stagehands (both members and those extras who working beside us to try to earn their hours toward membership) to give what little aid we can.

March and April are generally our busiest months... these are the months were we make the bulk of our income in Madison.  This is devastating.

Please help if you can... Thank you.
