John-Paul Shirley was admitted to the hospital in Orlando for acute liver failure on Tuesday, September 17th. He is now a patient at Athena Health Orlando, one of the top liver transplant hospitals in the nation. After extensive tests the medical team shared that John-Paul “is on the verge of death”.
Today, John-Paul is still in the hospital. He is in stable, but critical condition. He is extremely fragile, fatigued, weak and jaundiced.
The doctors have shared that the only medical hope for John-Paul is a liver transplant.
John-Paul has NO HEALTH INSURANCE. His employer provided insurance was dropped in the Spring when he did not meet the annual hours-worked criteria. This adds an amazing amount of stress as the doctor shared that a liver transplant itself will cost over $500,000; post care will be even more critical, and they expect the bills will continue to mount. The hospital will likely release him into the care of his parents (Paul and Wendy) within the next 48 hours. They are arranging to relocate to Orlando for the duration.
The Shirley Family is one of great faith. In a recent update on the Facebook Page, Paul stated that "John-Paul’s future is in God’s hands, and each of us has special gifts that can be employed to share Divine Love with each other that extends Divine Love to all people, all things."
