Team Taylor

Taylor is my best friend's daughter and someone I've always considered my niece. Taylor is a sweet, beautiful girl that was born with a birth mark (port wine stain) over her left eye. Since she was 9 months old, her mom, Chris Schenk, would have to travel to Galveston, Texas every 3 months with Taylor to get laser surgery done to try and diminish the color. When Taylor turned 7, the UW Madison hospital got the equipment needed to perform the laser treatments. As Taylor got older her birth mark began to grow. Now not only did they have to do laser treatments but the doctors had to go in and close veins to try and keep the mass from growing. Their concern has been that she could potentially lose her sight in that eye because closing veins in that area could be critical. Despite all this, Taylor has always stayed positive. She's always smiling and willing to help anyone out. While in high school Taylor met the love of her life and now fiance, Tyler Munro. The beginning of 2017, Taylor and Tyler learned that they were going to become parents. Doctors warned them that if Taylor decided to keep the baby that she could end up losing her eye and that it may even cause her to have heart issues. Taylor didn't need to think twice. She was keeping her baby. Because of the hormone levels caused while being pregnant, the mass above Taylor's eye was growing at a rapid pace. Her eye then began to start bleeding. Her doctors performed a few surgeries to try and contain it but there was only so many things they could do without causing harm to the baby. On Tuesday, September 12th they scheduled Taylor for yet another surgery. Chris was driving Taylor there when her eye began to bleed heavily. Upon arrival at the hospital, they started what was suppose to be a 6 hour surgery. At the 6 hour mark the doctors came out and said they could not get the bleeding to stop and needed to continue closing veins. Finally, after 11 hours Taylor was wheeled into recovery. Taylor's blood pressure was high and she was having contractions about every 3 min. They gave her medicine to stop the contractions and started her on iv meds to try and control her blood pressure. Two days later, they still couldn't get her blood pressure under control and her eye still continued to bleed so the doctors decided they needed to take the baby 10 weeks early for his safety and Taylor's. Taylor was transported from UW Madison to Meriter. The emergency c-section went well and Tanner, all 4lbs 1 oz of him, was born. Tanner is doing great and it looks as if he'll get to go home in a few short weeks. His momma however has had one setback after another. Taylor needed another surgery. Unfortunately, they cannot perform that type of surgery at Meriter so Taylor had to be transported back to UW Madison, without her baby. Another grueling surgery was performed and we thought things were turning around. Again, two days later her eye was bleeding and they did another surgery to close more veins. At this point, Taylor had to have several blood transfusions and this surgery was really rough on her. Her face had swollen and some glue had gotten into her lungs. Now her breathing needed to be monitored along with the bleeding from the eye. Not even 10 hours after surgery, her eye began to bleed heavily again. The doctors now have her in surgery and are going to try and debulk the mass. They warned that they may have to remove part of her eye lid or even the eye itself. I'm starting this go fund me to help Taylor and Tyler with whatever they may need. Being brand new parents, and all the traveling Tyler has to do to be by his son and fiance, they could use any help you can give. Any monies donated will be used for whatever Chris deems necessary. Whether it be gas, medical bills, food, anything the family need etc. Please, above all else... PRAY!! Taylor is not out of the woods yet and needs as many prayers as possible. Thank you!!
