My sister's story.......

My sister mel was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma at 21 years old (which is suppose to be the curable Hodgkins).  She started off with chemo treatment, that didnt work, then radiation...that didnt work , then stem cell replacement but that aslo didnt work. It's been a never ending battle for her. She has never in almost now 8 years been in remission.  Being so young through it all she still remained to "try"to go about life "normal" for awhile she was still working, she had her first son before she was diagnosed so she was doing her best being a mom and fighting cancer.

About 20 months ago the cancer caused a stroke after the birth of her second son which changed everything completely.  Mind you years ago the doctor's told her she wasnt going to be able to have any more kid's so for the fact god gave her another blessing was a miracle. Since the stroke she was put into a nursing home to "recover" for months she just slept, hardly ate and wasnt very alert. She had done a short amount of time of speech theraphy and physical theraphy but she wasn't making much improvement. Since then mel has had her good moments depending on the day.

Back in January my mom decided for her to come home where she belongs for whatever remaining time there was left so CNA care and Hospice care  was set up to care for her needs throughout the day and to  keep her as comfortable  as possible. Since being home mel had experienced her good days and bad. The cancer was taking over, it was slowly shutting down her body .She was on morphine to help with pain, she's was refusing food some days, vomitting alot more the signs of us losing her were becoming more of a reality. The last 20 months of seeing her laying in bed like this has been hard to watch.  No 29 year old mom of two should have to spend some of the greatest years of their life in this condition.  She should be chasing her kids around, dropping them off and picking them up at school , enjoying putting them to bed at night and waking up with them every morning and telling them "mommy loves you", share the holidays with her family instead of in a nursing home or confined to a bed instead she has been up against a battle and this "curable" form of hodgkins was going to win.

Friday evening June 5 th, 2015 family and friends gathered by her bedside to pay their final respects.

Saturday June 6th,2015 at about 5:40 a.m my sister took her last breath. She laid peacefully in no pain for the first time in many years. God called her to come home with all the angels that have been looking over her all these years , now she will be looking over all of us until we meet again.

Spread your wings and fly mel, you can now breath freely.

"god saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered, "come to me"

The word cancer I am sure means so much to so many people reading this. At some time in all of our lives we have all come across someone who has had it , but it still doesnt make it ok but all we can do is support each other through it all.  So with that being said  I wanted to do this for my sister.  Help give her the wings to fly to her final resting place.

As we all know things add up quickly with the cost of everything any donation made means alot and can go a long way. I want to give her what she deserves and that is letting her lay to rest in peace.

We all love you mel, this is for you.....MY SISTER <3
