Please help us support Andrea Zanini-Hooey in her fight against Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Andrea has spent almost half of her life in the service of others as a Paramedic of York Region. If you have ever used the ambulance service in Georgina, you have likely met Andrea. She would be the one that suffers from excessive happiness on the road. Andrea is energetic, happy, takes pride in her job and treats every patient with respect, dignity and kindness.
Not that there is ever a "good" or "bad" time to receive a Cancer diagnosis, getting one in the middle of a pandemic makes everything more difficult.
Andrea will be going through chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. Some of the medications she will be on will not be covered. This will have a dramatic long term effects on her physical health, mental health and financial security.
She is the primary income earner of the house. She will be unable to work for at least a year and with that comes financial hardships. Andrea is the proud mother of 2 daughters, Sophia and Olivia who now require private daycare and special programming due to COVID19. Financial support will allow her loving husband Grant to be where he is supposed to be, with Andrea.
Because of the pandemic, Andrea is not allowed to have support people with her during her appointments. In addition to that, because of the pandemic, treatment options (more specifically surgical) are limited.
I have asked her fellow Paramedics to support Andrea by making a frozen meal for her and her family. The food labels include a section for a message for Andrea. I hope as she moves through her journey, she is reminded of how many people are behind her and love her as she reads these notes every day at meal times.
If cooking is not your thing, we are asking that you consider a monetary donation to relieve some of the financial burden during her time away from work. My goal is for Andrea to be able to focus on herself and her fight for the next year but I need help for that to happen.
