We will meet again

My name is Dror Feiler, I was born in Israel and raised there, but have lived in Sweden for four decades. Now I have a difficult dilemma. I want to try to visit my 97 years old mother Pnina Feiler in Israel, but for the last 10 years, the Israeli government has made it impossible for me to visit her. Now, there is a slight opening, however, but I am forced to ask for your help. No, no one’s hacked into my profile, and I willingly admit that it is very difficult to ask for such support/help, but I can´t see any other possibility. Therefore I decided to start the crowdfunding campaign “We will meet again” today since it is my mother’s 97:th birthday (9/9).

Here’s the situation: In 2010, the Israeli state banned me from entry to Israel until 2025 (because of Ship to Gaza and my solidarity work with the Palestinian people). I have applied for a temporary entry permit on humanitarian grounds so that I might visit my mother, who cannot travel to Sweden due to her old age.

After several years of legal processing, the state of Israel has now, to my great joy, but also frustration granted me a conditional entry permit for a maximum of 30 days (14 of them in COVID 19 quarantine). In the best of worlds, with no covid19 pandemic, I would have already booked a trip. But there are additional hurdles to clear, involving both legal and financial risks. I am required to post bail in the amount of 100,000 Shekel (approx. 26,000 EUR), and if one of the conditions (see below) for the visit is not complied with (I intend to comply with the conditions), or if the Israeli authorities want to interpret something in my stay as a violation of the conditions, which is not impossible under the free interpretive precedence of the Israeli state the sum will be confiscated.

In addition, I don’t have 100000 Shekel to deposit, and then lose. So that is why I am now initiating this crowdfunding effort. I simply see no other possibility and cannot take the risk of postponing my trip much longer. Because, even though my 97-year-old mother, who I have been unable to visit for ten years, has promised to wait for me, time is not on her side. I would be so grateful, of course, for any amount you can donate.

Note! One important piece of information: if I succeed, with your help, to collect the deposit money of 26,000 EUR, and after my visit have the money returned to me by the Israeli authorities, that money will be used to fund solidarity and/or culture projects.

Conditions for my visit to Israel

Bail of 100,000 Israeli Shekel (approx. 26,000 EUR) to assure that I:
1)    Leave Israel within 30 days of my arrival

3)    Report an address in advance to the Ministry of Interior
4)    Don’t request permission to visit the West Bank or Gaza during my stay
5)    Fully cooperate with the immigration authorities
6)    Don’t engage in anything other than the entry permit’s purpose (visiting my mother)
