Help Our Mam Get the Rehabilitation She Deserves
Our mam is only 44 years old—a kind, funny, and strong woman, a partner, and the most loving mother to two children. Just over a year ago, our lives changed forever when she suddenly suffered a massive stroke.
She was rushed into Tallaght hospital, and within hours, our world collapsed. She slipped into a coma, was placed on life support in ICU, and remained that way for over 6 weeks. Doctors told us to prepare for the worst, We were told she was “basically brain dead” and that, even if she survived, she would be left in a vegetative state with no quality of life.
But our mam has proved time and time again that she is stronger than anyone could have imagined. She woke up. She fought her way back to us. She is mentally sharp, and determined to keep pushing forward. Her progress has shocked her medical team, and she has already overcome obstacles that no one believed she could.
However, her physical recovery has been extremely difficult. She is fully paralysed on her left side and completely bed bound. She cannot carry out even the smallest daily tasks without help. While she continues to fight, her body desperately needs more intensive rehabilitation to give her the chance to walk again, to regain her independence, and to live the life she deserves.
The care centre she is currently in is simply not providing the level of rehabilitation she needs. Time is running out—without the right therapy, her chances of further recovery will continue to decrease, and she could remain in this state forever. The impact on her mental health has been heartbreaking to witness, as she knows she could achieve so much more if only she had access to the right care.
We are fundraising to give her that chance. With your help, we can access private rehabilitation and the therapies she urgently needs, including:
• Specialist Physiotherapy – to help her strengthen her body, improve mobility, and work towards walking again.
• Speech & Language Therapy – to support her communication and swallowing, giving her more independence in daily life.
• Occupational Therapy – to help her relearn vital everyday skills and adapt to her challenges so she can live with dignity.
• Essential Equipment – such as mobility aids and therapy tools to support her recovery at home.
Our goal is to give her the opportunity to live her life to the fullest after everything she has already overcome.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards her rehabilitation and care. Even if you cannot donate, please share this campaign to help us reach more people.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our mam’s story and for any support you can give. She has already achieved the impossible—now we just need help to give her the future she deserves.
thank you ,
