Hi My name is Arlene, I lived in Vancouver, single mom and working as an early childhood educator. I am the main financial supporter of my family since I came to Canada. I never once failed to send them a monthly allowance and other extra expenses as my dad never had permanent job since we are young. I’ve been told or advised to do a go fund me with few of my friends since last year that my mom was hospitalized for almost two months. I just don’t have the urge to do it because I’m to embarrassed to asked for help and I tried my best till my last source income and savings. But now I am here to try and find my luck to get help from all of you for my MOM.Last year June 2022 my mom was rushed to the hospital unconscious ( Philippines). She was in the ICU for about 2 weeks .She woke up after 5days and I’m dying crying and praying every minute of my life. After few weeks of observations and test they found out that my mom has a liver cirrhosis. The doctor said that for her to live longer is that she need liver transplant. The only thing the doctor can do right now is to treat other symptoms that will arise ( she’s diabetic) Me and my son went home and this is the first time my mom will meet my 2 1/2 year old boy ( last year) . We stayed in the Philippines for a month last year and leaving her again with her health situation is beyond killing me softly. But I have no choice, I need to work and she needed me more financially this time because her medical expenses is over the top. Her medication monthly around 1,500 dollars plus monthly check up . She accumulates fluid in her stomach causes of her liver, she go to the hospital at least once a month to drained her and they get 8 litre of fluid. For the past few months they found out she’s not producing enough blood , on top of everything now she needs blood transfusions every now and then. Last Wednesday they went to the hospital to get blood transfusions but her body is rejecting it or can’t find a compatible blood, they were still in the hospital ( a week now)the doctor was suggesting a bone marrow transplant but the doctor is worried that her body is too weak, she could go to coma, 50/50 or she could die. I wanna give my mom the option of liver transplant . I’m not sure if it’s possible. But I am not loosing my faith! She’s fighting and still wanted to live longer, she just turn 60th two months ago and her wish is to have more time in the world to see my son and me. I used all my savings for all the bills in the hospital and for paying all the checks up, hospital and medications. I am a single mom and I don’t know how to keep up financially. I do babysitting on the side to help with my own bills. But I’m pretty broke at the moment. I am here to raise money to help for my mom medical expenses and hoping if it’s possible to get her into process of getting liver transplants.
