Heart and Soil Dogs is a small, volunteer-run dog rescue in rural Nova Scotia. We helped rehome 158 Canadian dogs in 2023. Heart and Soil Dogs places an emphasis on transparency, training support and provides care for our rescue dogs that surpasses industry standards. We support the last-chance dogs and are building a refuge and training space called “HSDs Rescue Rehab”. To bring this project and dream to completion we need financial support.

We have already purchased the building, have the concrete for foundation scheduled and will begin construction in March 2024. The kennel system is designed for dogs suffering from anxiety or reactivity. The space for each dog will be a massive 10x8 room with all the comforts and support they need. The rescue has built its own private trail system and dog park immersed in nature and safely tucked behind the rescue. The trails and park are also designed for dogs who need a safe outlet without outside interference. We’re creating something incredible.
