My name is Tyler, I’m 21 years old, and my girlfriend is 20. Earlier this year, we made one of the biggest decisions of our lives. We moved from North Carolina to Iowa for what we were promised would be a great job opportunity and a chance to start our future. It was our first time ever moving out of state, and it meant leaving behind our families, our friends, and everything we had ever known. But we believed we were doing the right thing for our future.

We packed up our lives and moved to Iowa on February 19th with high hopes and a lot of trust in the opportunity we were given. We were told we would have help, a good position, and that we wouldn’t have to worry while getting started. Unfortunately, things did not turn out the way we were promised.

Since moving here, we have had to spend nearly $20,000 just to get here, pay for groceries, and cover basic living expenses while waiting to get paid. The hardest part is that I still have not been paid in two months, which has put us in a very difficult financial situation. Because of this, I recently lost my car to repossession, which has made getting to work and getting around even harder for us.

We have been trying to stay positive and figure things out on our own, but we are now at the point where we need help. We are raising money to help cover rent, bills, groceries, gas, and basic living expenses while we try to recover from this situation and get back on our feet.

We are young, we took a risk to try to build a better future for ourselves, and unfortunately, it did not go the way we planned. Moving to a new state alone, without family nearby, not getting paid, and now losing my car has been one of the most stressful and scary experiences of our lives.

We are doing everything we can to fix the situation and move forward, but right now we just need a little help to get through this difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean more to us than we can explain. Even just sharing this helps us more than you know.
