Blacksburg Volunteer Firefighter Mike Linkous has been diagnosed with  cancer resulting in a combination of fear, anxiety,  and bewilderment for Mike, his family, and his first responder friends.  Mike has tried to get the best information about Multiple Myeloma  to make good decisions about what to do next. Working with medical specialists in Virginia and North Carolina, a treatment plan that includes chemotherapy,  radiation , and stem cell transplants has been implemented.  This is a very long process that has involved many trips out of state for treatments and then being quarantined to prevent infections.  During this time Mike has been unable to work or answer fire department calls. All of the enormous expenses and loss of income for someone with cancer are not fully covered by insurance and it is our desire to help the family out with gofundme donations. Mike is a first responder that has given freely to his community for years and this is our turn to help a community caregiver.
