Help Us Continue Life-Saving FIP Treatment for Gravy
Note: This is written from my perspective, but the fundraiser is being organized through my wife’s account.
Thursday was one of the worst days of my life.
I went to work like normal and got laid off as soon as I arrived. About an hour after getting home, I noticed one of my cats, Gravy, acting strangely. He was sitting at the water fountain, drinking, then just staring at it like he was in a daze.
When I looked closer, his eyes were completely different. One pupil was a narrow slit and looked like it had blood beneath the surface, and the other was fully dilated.
We rushed him to an emergency vet.
That visit cost almost $1,800, and we left with a likely diagnosis of FIP and a red blood count around 16%.
Since then, we’ve been moving as fast as we can. We were able to get medication started, and we’re now working with the FIP Warriors group to get injectables for the first few days of treatment.
So far, we’ve spent about $2,500 out of pocket. We also had to turn down some recommended diagnostic tests just to be able to afford starting his medication.
Gravy is still fighting. He’s very weak and not eating much, but he is drinking, using the litter box, and moving around a little. He doesn’t seem to be in severe pain, and it really feels like he has a chance if we can keep going.
We’ve set a goal of $6,000 to help cover:
* ongoing medication
* follow-up vet visits, bloodwork, and ultrasounds
* and possibly a blood transfusion
A few people from my original Reddit post were incredibly generous and helped us get started, and I’m beyond grateful for that. Here is the link to that post.
Gravy is family. He’s sweet, curious, and always glued to his sister Biscuit, who hasn’t left his side through any of this.
If you can help, or even just share this, it would mean everything to us. ❤️
