We Stand with our Girls
Donation protected
Over the past year, my sister’s family—and several others—have been living through every parent’s worst nightmare. What began as a shocking text about a local teacher’s removal from school has since unfolded into a heartbreaking and courageous battle for justice.
My now 11-year-old niece was among several young girls abused by her former 3rd grade teacher—a man entrusted with their education and safety. After bravely speaking up, she became one of eight children who filed police reports, triggering a criminal investigation and eventual trial. These children—some just 9 years old—courageously testified in court, reliving their trauma in front of a packed courtroom to ensure their voices were heard.
Despite powerful testimonies, forensic interviews, and over 20 witnesses—including fellow students and school staff—the trial ended with the teacher acquitted of 18 charges. The defense leaned on the absence of video evidence and leveraged wealth and high-powered legal counsel to cast doubt on the girls’ experiences. It was a devastating blow—the system failed them.
But the fight is not over.
There are still three pending charges, and the families are exploring other legal paths to hold this predator accountable. These girls are warriors. They stood up not only for themselves, but for every child who has ever been silenced. Their bravery has already prevented future harm—and now, they need our help to continue the battle.
We’ve created this GoFundMe to support the families through ongoing legal proceedings, trauma therapy, and advocacy work. If you feel moved to contribute, any donation—big or small—will make a meaningful impact on these girls’ healing and pursuit of justice.
Thank you for standing with them.
