Our good friend, Mike Sears, was indicted earlier this year on charges resulting from a domestic dispute.  A plea agreement was agreed to by Mike and the State for a six-month jail sentence plus probation.  At the hearing to accept the plea, the district attorney withdrew it, asked for a jury trial and threatened Mike with life imprisonment. 

Following the trial on Nov. 5, Mike was convicted on four counts and sentenced to five years in a maximum-security prison! 

Mike has appealed.  

This GoFundMe campaign is to help provide the strong financial support for skilled, experienced—and expensive—legal help Mike will need to ensure his rights are protected and injustices righted.  In short, he needs a much better lawyer this time around. 

We, Mike's large community of friends and family, believe his conviction and exorbitant sentencing should be aggressively appealed, and we are asking you to help.

It is the perfect representation of who Mike is and how he lives his life—a loving father of three, devoted son, graphic artist, musician, patron of the arts, nature lover, philanthropist, devout Christian and community hero. All of us know Mike as a loyal friend with an empathetic soul. Many in the local arts and music circles and our community at large have been touched by his selfless acts of kindness and support. Mike has always been the first to step up to contribute his time and talents to charitable causes and those in need. 

Let's be like Mike....Let's come together and be there for him like he has been there for so many of us.
