In July 2022 the McCallum family’s lives were turned upside down when 15-year-old Cameron was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Since then, Cameron, Ann, Mark and little brother Nick have been on a roller coaster ride, with Cameron enduring long hospital stays, countless medical procedures, and intense chemotherapy with nasty side effects. They are determined to beat this horrid disease, but there’s a long road ahead, with treatment for ALL typically lasting for around three years.
Ann has had to take indefinite unpaid leave from work to care for Cameron and stay with him when he is in hospital. While they are fortunate to live close to the hospital where Cam is currently being treated, it’s looking like next year will present additional challenges with a lengthy stay required at Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney for a bone marrow transplant. Cam and Ann will be away from home for months. The additional cost of being away from home will only add to the growing pile of ongoing costs for medicine, food, and fuel, increasing the financial burden and emotional strain they are all enduring.
Anyone who knows Ann and Mark will know that they are the first to offer help to those who need it, and their boys are just as kind, thoughtful and compassionate. Now it’s our turn to help this loving family in their time of need. Any contribution, big or small, will help to ease the family’s financial burden and help them focus on the most important thing, getting Cam well again!
At this time, financial pressures are increasing for many, so please only contribute if you are comfortable doing so.
Together, we stand with Cam! Thank you for your support.
