OUR STORY
We made a pretty cool movie and now we HAVE to make another one. Our first movie, Tales from Dapple Creek, won scads of awards—forty-three national and international ones to date (see list below), and now we’re prepping for our next movie.
You know those ineffable moments when you can’t find the right word to say? You can feel it and sense its weight, but... A shrug of your shoulder or a tilt of your head best completes the message. The gesture conveys what words cannot say. That’s a vast part of how TDC connects. It’s that and more—we speak the unspeakable.
With our next movie, we still need your help. We've raised a good portion of what we need, but still need your help to purchase a better-quality video so the work can be projected on the big theater screens.
“Yes, marvelous!” exclaim critics and audience goers. “Now you’ve got to make the next movie. But this time, get a real camera. It’s a must. That little webcam you used during Covid won’t cut it today in the Big Shot film world."
If strangers responded that way when we used sub-par equipment but still made an award-winning film, just think how our next movie will captivate the world.
TALES FROM DAPPLE CREEK
The way Kista brought together the interests of the common person and the love of movement in a pandemic world is new and fresh. And guess what?! Dance has a new face . . . a new body—through hands.
TDC is a 27-minute movie loaded with dramatic and choreographic content. It's appeared at universities, festivals, conferences, watch parties, and other special showings. It's a prototype for our next movie. We need the new camera now—before the price goes up.
NEW MOVIE
We’ll create new content with better resolution and other technical enhancements—all without losing the raw, humanistic sense of communication that Tales from Dapple Creek exposes.
The new camera and lens are imperative. We’ve done our research, and this new equipment has dramatically better features.

HOW WE GOT HERE
A personal note from Kista:
For ages, I’ve said, “There’s something about the hands.” And I’ve wanted to create a work for the mainstage featuring hands (without blacklight). But there were always too many other projects eating up my time.
Then . . . Covid hit!
I had more than enough free time. But no dancers were available, and there was no studio to use.
Friends and colleagues were finding classes to teach and take online, but I had no interest in that kind of work. Then I remembered my idea of working with hands.
Jenn Colwell, a former dancer in KTI, and I started getting together via newly discovered Zoom sessions. Through a gradual discovery process, we created the movement for the eight sections of Tales from Dapple Creek. It helps that Jenn is an Occupational Therapist, and her specialty is hands.
We knew we had something marvelous when my friend and longtime collaborator, Christian Cherry, joined us. His music, observations, and questions helped the project become a phenomenal reality.
ADDITIONALLY
The camera, lens, and software we purchase will also be used to record and produce the KT Warm-Ups project. Future works will also prosper from the use of the new equipment—this camera and lens package is a longtime investment.
We truly would like to raise funds for this camera and lens heading into 2023, so we can ride the wave of momentum that TDC has created!

Nationally and internationally, Kista’s work has touched mountains of people.
KTI, in one form or another, has been around since the early 1980s. The company is now being recognized for what it has always worked to accomplish: to connect and communicate with people through movement.
Our movie-making is profoundly increasing our audience demographics. TDC is meaningful for people from all walks of life. Movie2 will include aspects of TDC yet have a life of its own.

Our primary goals are to communicate and connect through movement. Without these actions, there is no kinetic echo, no understanding, no empathy, no questioning, and no response.
Our work continues to grow.
