We Ride for Jack
Donation protected
Imagine having your child diagnosed with Leukemia, at age 7, and beat it, only to have it come back in a more aggressive way at age 21. Jack Bender is a 21 year old young man, who is dealing with his second bout of Leukemia. Jack has been in and out of the hospital for over a year now and the family’s bills are reaching astronomic levels, as you might imagine. Jack’s Father, Dave Bender, is a close friend and college buddy. We want to help, so 3 of Dave’s fraternity brothers are riding from Cocoa Beach FL to Key West Fl (400 miles) in April, raising funds to help the Bender family with their bills.
Myself, J.D. McCourt M.D. and Steve Bohn will be riding together in the name of Jack Bender, beginning on Sunday April 19. Our theme is "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes." Since we were riding to Key West, it made sense that a Jimmy Buffet song would be most appropriate. I've included one of the lyrics that we have on the back of our cycling jerseys (below), that resonates given Jack's condition. Lastly, we're all old and not in the shape we once were, so please have pity and take that into consideration when you donate :). We will build a Facebook page and be uploading daily videos, from our ride, to let you know how things are progressing. Be on the lookout for an invite to like our page. We have all been blessed with healthy children. Please find it in your heart to help Jack and the Bender family. Please know that 100% of your donations (outside of GoFundMe's fees), will go to the Bender family. Your gift will have a direct impact on a wonderful family. Blessings to all.
