Joe was found!

On Thursday, July 4th, Joe and his younger brother Oliver were traveling from Portland, Oregon to Bali, Indonesia to visit their father. During a layover in the San Francisco airport, Joe experienced an acute mental health episode and became completely disoriented and incoherent. Leaving Oliver alone in the airport, Joe disappeared and has been missing ever since. We have no knowledge of Joe’s whereabouts. He had very little money and clothing with him, his phone is no longer working and he has not accessed any of his social media accounts. He knows absolutely no one in the area. He has been missing for three nights in an unfamiliar city, totally disoriented.

When Joe disappeared, Sherri immediately flew to San Francisco and helped Oliver make his connecting flight to his father. The San Francisco police interviewed Oliver, checked the cctv footage and determined that Joe was not acting rationally during this episode. They created a missing persons report and his case is now in the national database for missing persons.

Sherri is, of course, frantic to find Joe and terrified that he is lost in an unfamiliar city in the midst of an acute, unprecedented mental health episode. She does not have the resources to launch the search for Joe and the San Francisco police do not actively search for missing persons. Her emergency flights and time in San Francisco this week have already drained the family’s limited financial reserves.

Money raised by this fund will go specifically towards basic travel and lodging expenses for Sherri and other friends who are volunteering to search for Joe in the Bay Area. They will also go towards the printing costs for missing persons flyers, other methods of publicizing Joe’s disappearance, and to help the family absorb the costs of Sherri taking time off work to search for Joe. All funds remaining once Joe is found will go towards getting him immediate treatment for his mental health condition.
