On Saturday, December 12th, my mother, Silvia Tucker de Rivera, was hit by a car while crossing an street on her way back to her home. She was immediately taken to the Santa Paula Medical Group in Caracas and hospitalized. She has multiple fractures, including a broken collarbone, three ribs, pelvis, and knee. She will undergo surgery to correct these fractures and will then face a long and undoubtedly expensive recovery, requiring rehabilitation and 24/7 care for quite some time.

She is currently conscious, the doctors have managed to stabilize her, and thank God, she has a great attitude. In her own words, "God gave her a second chance at life."

As many of you know, my younger brother (Andrés) and I do not live in Venezuela, and my older brother (Eduardo), who was with her when the accident happened, leaving him in shock, is by her side. With the invaluable help of my cousins and aunts and uncles, my mother has been able to get the medical care she needs to continue living.

El sábado, 12 de diciembre mi mama, Silvia Tucker de Rivera, fue atropellada por un automóvil mientras cruzaba un calle para regresar a su casa y enseguida fue trasladada y hospitalizada en el Grupo Medico Santa Paula en Caracas, tiene múltiples fracturas, entre ellas: clavícula, tres costillas, pelvis y rodilla, motivo por el cual será sometida a una operación para corregir sus fracturas y luego enfrentará una recuperación larga y claramente costosa por lo que necesitará rehabilitación y ayuda 24/7 durante un buen tiempo.

En estos momentos se encuentra consciente, ya los médicos lograron estabilizarla y gracias a Dios con una gran actitud. En sus palabras: "Dios le dio una segunda oportunidad de vivir".

Como muchos saben mi hermano menor (Andrés) y yo no vivimos en Venezuela y mi hermano mayor (Eduardo) quien estaba con ella cuando ocurrió el accidente, quedando en estado de shock, es quien está a su lado. Con la ayuda invaluable de mis primos y tíos se ha conseguido para mi mama la asistencia médica que necesita para seguir con nosotros.

Cualquier contribución será bien recibida para ayudar con los gastos médicos de mi mama.
